The main goal of our lead catechist is to facilitate a lesson for their age group and teach on the topic of the week.
This is an incredible group of adults with all kinds of skill sets,
but each week they assist us by doing the following:
planning
lessons
taking an active role and making sure the teaching is prepared with the help of pre-written plans.
leading
teachings
breaking open the topic for the week with a teaching aimed at a larger group of children.
transitioning
to groups
preparing the children to go to their smaller groups and continue their lesson for the week.
Catechist
room
adults // activities and discussion
The main goal of our room catechist is to continue the lesson from large group in their age specific class room.
This is an incredible group of adults with all kinds of skill sets,
but each Sunday they assist us by doing the following:
leading activities
facilitating crafts and activities that further teach the topic being discussed that day.
creating discussion
Giving the children a chance to talk about what they've learned and what they need to know.
assisting with details
there are always unforseen needs that we need help managing and solving each week.
All adult volunteers must have a background check and attend a Virtus Safe Environment training before being able to volunteer.
this clearance lasts for five years.
